As the nights start to get darker and the weather begins to get a little chilly, jumpers, scarves and thermal underwear (don’t deny it) begin to overtake any sensible fashionista’s thoughts. When I think of Winter, my mind turns to muted shades, thick knits in neutral colours, coats and dresses in deep jewel tones and sparkly LBDs.
But this year, Winter has had an overhaul. Say goodbye to the dark, and step into the light – It’s time to try out some Winter pastels.
The biggest splash of pastel on the runway this season was seen in coats, with gorgeous pieces from designers such as Céline and Gucci (below).
These looks have filtered down from the runway, and now the majority of high street shops have a variety of covetable pastel pieces to choose from.
I’ve searched the internet for you lovely readers and put together a selection of pretty pastels to keep your wardrobes bright until Spring.
This gorgeous duck-egg blue coat from Louche, £110, is very on-trend with its fur collar.
Another pastel coat, this time in dusky pink from French Connection, £175
Soft, cosy pastels from Mango with this button-back sweater, £19.99
Forgot the LBD, this party season it’s all about the PPD – The Pretty Pastel Dress. This dress from Mango, £39.99, has gorgeous embellished shoulders to add a little sparkle.
For a more subtle take on the Winter pastel trend, try a pastel handbag – £35, from Accessorize.
Another way of subtly embracing the trend is with nail art. Use these nail art pens from Models Own, £20, to get pastel-perfect nails.
Proving that pastel can be punk too… Studded bracelet from Anna Lou of London, £45 (available in other pastel colours).
Pastels don’t have to be pretty (unless you want them to be) – Here are a selection for the men…
These Bellfield chinos come in a range of pastel shades, and are currently on sale at £15
It might not be somewhere guys would usually shop, but New Look has some covetable pieces in the men’s section! New Look Oxford Blazer, £39.99
