How To Wear… Bold Prints

When it comes to outfits at this time of year, most people (including myself) tend to look towards cosy jumpers, sparkles, gorgeous dresses and dark or neutral colours.

This year, try something a little different. A bold print can look amazing and will make you stand out this festive season. Whether it’s a party, a family get together or coffee with friends, brighten up your winter wardrobe with quirky patterns.

I had a scout around the high street shops and tried on a few pieces to give you an idea of what they look like on. All the items I tried on were size 8.

This sweet little dress is the perfect mix of smart-casual, and would be perfect for Christmas day. It’s a bargain at £8 from Primark (and I think I might have to sneak back and get it!)

This palm print wrap playsuit from Topshop is a bold statement piece with a plunging neckline. £68.00

This leather pencil skirt, £30.00, tones down the scarf print shirt, £32.00 and avoids making you look like you’ve rolled around the floor at a jumble sale. Both from River Island.

I love this marble print dress from River Island, £25.00. Perfect for Christmas drinks with friends, pair it with black heels and a clutch for a chic evening look.

Paired with this plain chiffon cami, this floral patterned tapestry skirt creates a versatile outfit for both daytime and evening. Cami £9.99, skirt on sale for £13.49, both from New Look.

A more festive vibe with this subtly patterned deep red velvet skirt from New Look (which I can’t find on the website! But they do have it in store). £16.00 (cami as above).

These are just a few examples of the diverse selection of bold patterns to be found on the high street at the moment – so dare to wear colourful prints this festive season!
